Shirhonda Jones

Coach Jones was born In Memphis, TN.   ShiRhonda started playing volleyball in 7th grade at Leander Middle School.  As a Freshman she started on her varsity team at Wooddale High School and became co captain as a Junior. Outside of school ball she played club winning best all around, MVP and best all around. After graduation ShiRhonda started coaching at the club level and coached a year at Cordova High School.  While playing in adult leagues, Shirhonda was approached and started a volleyball league at the Millington Rec and stayed there for 4 years before moving to Clarksville, TN. Shirhonda comes to us with years of experience and the love of the game. This is Coach Jones first year as a member of the New South VBC family.

Erin Chancey

Erin has joined the New South VBC this year as the teams strength coach.  Erin holds a Bachelors in Exercise Science from the University of North Georgia and a Masters in Education with a specialization in Sport Management from the University of Georgia.  Erin is a certified strength and conditioning through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  Prior to her involvement with New South Volleyball, Erin has worked in the capacity of Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach with the University of Georgia, Ohio State University, the United States Air Force Academy and the Olympic Training Center.  The New South Volleyball staff is excited to have Erin associated with our program.

Sabrina nieves, Spring League director

Sabrina Nieves is a Junior at Austin Peay State University completing her undergrad in mathematics. She played volleyball all four years of high school at Kenwood and West Creek with two years of off season training. She was captain of the volleyball team her senior year when West Creek qualified for Regionals for the first time. Sabrina has since coached the JV team at West Creek the last two seasons and is eager to begin coaching with New South for the first time.

Allie Thornton

Allie Thornton is a Sophomore Defensive Specialist/Libero for Austin Peay State University.  Last season Allie was the the 17's coach. This season she will be working with the 15's. She is from Huntsville, Alabama and recruited to play volleyball at Austin Peay State University. This season APSU finished 3rd in the OVC.  Allie will also be joining the sand volleyball program at APSU this spring 2017. She has been playing volleyball for 12 years. A graduate of Sparkman High school where she played varsity volleyball there all four years. During those four years, she was team captain and awarded All-Area two years in a row as well as All-County. Allie played for NASA (North Alabama Spikers Association) under coach Kelly Emerson for 5 years. Her club volleyball team was very successful, winning many tournaments. They traveled to GJNC (Girls Junior National Championships) in 2012, 2013, and 2014. NASA volleyball placed 24th at Junior Olympics in 2013 and placed 17th at Junior Olympics in 2014. We traveled to AAU's in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. NASA volleyball placed 8th @ AAU Nationals in 2013 and placed 12th at AAU Nationals in 2014. 

Ginny Gerig

Ginny Gerig has been playing volleyball for ten years. As a setter she helped her Normal Community High School reach back-to-back (2014-15) Illinois High School Association Class 4A Final Fours. Ginny was named Honorable Mention All-State and earned Second Team All-District honor.  As a junior, she earned Honorable Mention All-District recognition and was a Pantagraph All-Area first-team selection. Ginny played club volleyball for Illini Elite Volleyball Club.  Her club team placed 2nd in the Nation while playing in the Open Division her Junior year of high school. Ginny currently plays Libero for Austin Peay State University!  This will be Ginnys first year with New South VBC. 

Meet our coaches

​​JOSH STOECKL, Executive Director 

​Josh Stoeckl is the head coach for the West Creek Volleyball Team.  Prior to serving as head coach at West Creek, Josh held the job of Assistant Coach at Pine Forest High from 2002-2004 and head coach at Pine Forest from 2005-2008.  The Pine Forest volleyball team made the playoffs 2 times under the coaching of Coach Stoeckl.  In 2009, Josh moved to Clarksville to open up West Creek High School.  He was given a coach’s dream, the ability to start and create a program from the ground up.  Under his tutelage, the West Creek Volleyball program has gone from 0 wins in his first season to a record of 31-14 in and a regional playoff berth by the fifth season.  Coach Stoeckl coached West Creek to back to back district titles (2104 & 2015) and back to back to back (2013-2015)regional appearances.  Josh is originally from Cattaraugus, NY.  He holds 3 college degrees, an AS in Communications, a BA in History with a minor in Political Science and Education Certificate from Geneseo State University and an M ED from Grand Canyon University in Education Administration.  Coach Stoeckl aspires someday to become an Athletic Director of High School or small college.  Additionally, Josh serves as the Head Track Coach at West Creek; training over 40 state qualifiers and multiple state champions over 7 years.  Coach Stoeckl currently resides in Clarksville with his puggle Izzy Belle. 

Rachel Green, Director of Volleyball Operations

Rachel Green graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Management of Health and Fitness in 2012, where she also concluded her collegiate playing career. She appeared in 39 matches, posting 497 assists and 235 digs.  In 2006, Rachel helped Iowa Western Community College to a 60-4 mark and the NJCAA DI National Championship. She set the program's single-season mark with 2,045 assists. She also earned All-Conference honors at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in 2007. Rachel's passion for volleyball began when she was 4 years old, since then she has not stopped learning, practicing, and giving back to the sport.  With over 20 years of volleyball knowledge, Rachel has a variety of skills, ideas, style development, and experience that she pulls from when coaching.  Rachel has coached a variety of athletes from the start of their career (4 year olds) through the end of their college career. 
       Rachel's coaching experience includes:
·  Assistant coach at The University of Akron, Ohio
·  Assistant Tournament Director and Master Coach at Michigan Volleyball Academy (MVA)
·  Youth Academy Director and Lead Coach of the Dead Frog Far Out club team, Michigan
·  Head Varsity Coach and Junior Varsity coach at Zeeland East and East Kentwood High Schools
·  Sports Performance Volleyball Club (Aurora, Ill.)

-  Rossview High School JV and Asst Coach
·  A variety of other skill level camps and programs

      Some of Rachel's coaching statistic highlights include:
·  Guiding Zeeland East High School to their first conference tournament championship
·  Winning a 16’s AAU National Championship with Sports Performance
·  Mentoring a number of athletes and seeing them grow academically and athletically (All Conference Teams, College Scholarship Award Winners, etc)


​Johnna Connors is a 2013 Elementary Education graduate from Austin Peay State University. Johnna has been playing volleyball for about 13 years and has a true passion for playing and coaching the sport. She played at Santa Fe Unit School in Santa Fe, Tennesse, for all of her middle and high school career, where she was captain of her team for all four of her high school years. Johnna also played at the club level for 3 years in her home town of Columbia,TN. She had plans of going on to play in college but had a career ending shoulder injury her senior year. Johnna hopes that by staying involved with volleyball, many teens she coaches will find the love that she did in volleyball and will want to continue on in college if given the opportunity. She is excited to get the chance to influence others in this game just as coaches she had influenced her.  Johnna is currently the head volleyball coach at Clarksville High School. In her 3 years at CHS, she has led the team to two district championship appearances, winning the tournament 2016, and two regional appearances (2014, 2016.) She is in her fourth year with New South VBC.


Coach Bailey is a transplant from Enid, Oklahoma!  Bailey played volleyball for six years from middle school through high school.  She was captain of her high school team her senior year and was selected for the All-State Volleyball Team as a setter.  She also played club volleyball for four years in Enid and Stillwater, Oklahoma. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Mathematics and Education.  Bailey is currently an assistant coach at West Creek High School, and this is her fourth year coaching with New South Volleyball.
